AH279  Whale Watching & The Blue Lagoon 1 Mar 2016 -
31 Oct 2016

Highlights:
  • Whale watching in Iceland
  • Blue Lagoon

Tour description

We will sail to the home of a unique variety of the Minke whales, Humpbacks, Harbour Porpoises and White-beaked Dolphins, which are all common sights in this tour. The local bird life is also diverse, including birds as the Arctic tern, the Gannet and many varieties of Gull. The entrance to the Whale Exhibition Centre is free of charge for Whale Watching passengers.

At 12:30 we offer a pick-up service at the harbour that takes you back to our office. Those wanting to enjoy a leisurely walk back to our office (10-15 minutes) are also welcome to do so. We ask you to be at our office at 12:50 at the latest.

At 13:00 we board the bus for the 50 minute ride to the Blue Lagoon where you can enjoy the qualities it has to offer! The Blue Lagoon is a unique geothermal spa situated in the youngest lava field in west Iceland. Once there you have many recreational options such as walking in the Blue Lagoon’s spectacular surroundings, bathing in the milky blue-green water, relaxing in a geothermal steam bath or releasing the stress from your shoulders under a Blue Lagoon waterfall.

Departures from the Blue Lagoon back to Reykjavík are at 15:00, 17:00, 19:00 and 21:00. Transfer time to Reykjavík is about 50 minutes.

A well balanced tour. Collected punctually from our serviced apartment we were taken to the Iceland Excursions hub and hence to the Whale Watching dock only several minutes away. The Whale watching staff were fabulous even stowing away our stroller and providing warm outerwear and blankets for adults and children alike. Working with animals in nature is never easy and so albeit not a show as such we were lucky to see a good range on a beautiful day. The blue lagoon is much further away and one gets a view of the beautiful Reykjanes peninsula along the way. One is given an option of when you want to be collected from the Blue Lagoon. Note entry to the blue lagoon is not included in the cost of the above tour. All in all couldn't really ask for more.

Very well organised tour and waterproof suits on the boat were great. It might be useful to let people know that these are vailable in advance as people may bring all their waterproofs in anticipation as we did. Few whales seen but that can't be helped.

My grandson and I both loved the Whale Watching. We got to see a humpback whale as well as some minki whales and bay dolphins. It would have been nice if we had been able to get closer to the Puffins, it was very difficult to see them. The Blue lagoon was nice but the weather made it difficult to enjoy..It was very windy and rainy. It would also be nice to be able to get a package where the entrance to the blue lagoon is included as when I went to pay it was a shock at how expensive it was....
