AH140  Golden Circle Super Jeep Tour All year round

Highlights:
  • Þingvellir National Park
  • Gullfoss waterfall
  • Geysir hot spring area
  • Snowmobile tour on Langjökull glacier

Tour Description:

This Golden Circle Super Jeep tour allows visitors to get in touch with some of Iceland’s most famous and exciting natural phenomena.  Experience nature in a unique way in our 4x4 super-jeeps, which are specially modified to traverse difficult off-road tracks and mountain roads.

First stop is at Þingvellir National Park, which is one of Iceland’s most significant historical sites, as it was there that Iceland’s first parliament was founded in the year 930 AD. From Þingvellir we head along mountain tracks toward the world-renowned geothermal area around Geysir hot spring. We then continue on to Gullfoss waterfall where your proximity to its edge is so close you can feel the spray of the glacial water on your face.

Next we kick the action into higher gear to get even closer to Iceland’s nature and head up mountain roads to the interior of the country for an exciting snowmobile tour on Langjökull, Iceland’s second largest glacier. After an action-packed day we pass by the greenhouse village in Hveragerði, on our way back to Reykjavík.
We reserve the right to alter the itinerary according to weather and road conditions.

The tour was great! We would definitely recommend others book with Gray Line. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, pick up and drop off were easy and the snowmobiling was a great way to see some of Iceland's impressive scenery. While the weather cannot be helped we could not go to Pingvellir due to the roads being closed which was obviously a little disappointing. We will do this when we come back now! Thanks for a great experience.

The Golden circle super jepp tour was a very enjoyable trip.  The Þingvellir National Park was not quite as breathtaking as I had hoped, but the opportunity to cross a fault line between the tectonic plates was well worth the stop!  The Gullfoss waterfall was breath taking; a truly magnificent site.  Indeed, this was probably one of the highlights of my entire trip to Iceland; it was worth the journey just to see Gullfoss waterfall from above and up close.  The Geysir hot spring area is ok; it was good to see the "original" Geysir, but if you've seen geysers before, don't expect too much.  It's worth seeing, but it's nothing special as geysers go.  The snowmobile tour on Langjokull glacier was very enjoyable.  The tour guide ensured that everyone was comfortable driving the snowmobiles on the glacier, and the track we followed had been "created" for us; it was not just a random excursion into the middle of the glacier.  This was very good, however, as there were many crevasses in the glacier, which meant such an excursion would have been very dangerous.  The landscape going to Langjokull glacier was like something from Mars, and being on a glacier in the clear air was a wonderful experience.  The tour guide was fantastic, and he really did his best to make this an enjoyable and memorable trip.  I would recommend this over the other Golden Circle tours, as without the super jeep and the snowmobile trip at the end, the day would have not been anywhere near as enjoyable.  The tour guide warned us we might be sleepy after the air and altitude of the glacier - how right he was!  Tip: take some sandwiches/packed food for the stop at Gullfoss, as there isn't time to really experience it and get food from the shop.  There is a rest stop on the way back from Lagnjökull glacier to get food/rest, and there are also services at the Geysir centre.

The scenery was beautiful, and unforgetable. The guide we had was awesome as well. The snowmobile on the glacier was unbeatable. Would highly recommend to someone wanting to knock out a lot of things in Iceland all at once with a good tour guide!

Great tour. Had a wonderful guide but wish he would have been a little more talkative and told us more about the country, scenery, etc. He answered questions, but didn't volunteer a lot of info on his own. Would have liked a little more time at the waterfall. Guides were very safety conscious of everyone while on the snow mobiles. Overall, 5 stars for a great trip in a beautiful country.

This tour was amazing for the scenary and the experience. They pick you up in a monster truck with massive wheels, which was a ride within itself..So fun. Our tour guide, Biggy, made the adventure the most memorable excursion. I recommend you do this tour and suggest to ride with Biggy...
