AH162  The magical History Tour All year round

This personal and intimate Tuk Tuk city sightseeing tour takes you up and down the little back streets of Reykjavik in an eco-friendly Tuk Tuk showing you a different side of the older part of Reykjavik, its culture and history.

Leaving from Harpa Music Hall by Reykjavik Harbour the Tuk Tuk City Sightseeing Tour takes you to see the most significant landmarks of the oldest part of Reykjavik. On the route you will ride through the harbor area  and witness the revival of Grandi, where modern time restaurants meet the fishing shacks for a perfect blend. You will see the extinguished houses on the hill of Þingholt and the ingrained neighborhoods where the houses are all of a different color. The pond in the heart of Reykjavik is a significant landmark where people get together to watch the birds and take a stroll.

The Tuk Tuk city sightseeing tours are guided by expert locals with extensive knowledge of the who, where, when and how of Reykjavik. Your personal guide will take you visiting historic sights and major landmarks while sharing interesting stories from history and everyday life of the residents of Reykjavik.

Seating up to 6 passengers the Tuk Tuk vehicles are all EU regulated, fitted with safety belts and heated cabins to cope with the weather in Iceland. Powered by electricity made from clean hydro energy the Tuk Tuks are 100% eco-friendly making them the perfect choice for environmentally concious travellers.

This is a fantastic trip. Gutti is a superb guide he took us on a tour round the countryside, visiting the hot springs and a waterfall first, we stopped to buy locally grown tomatoes and strawberries on the way. We even managed to fit in a quick stop for my wife to stroke the Icelandic horses. Gutti is very knowledgeable about Icelandic Geology/Geography, history and flora and fauna. His English is excellent and he is a really nice guy. The trip in the 8 wheel drive was such an experience, we were so lucky with the weather. The views from the top were superb, and to be up there in just t-shirts was such a pleasure. The trip back to Reykjavik across the lava fields was even better with a quick stop for coffee and cakes. When Gutti learned we had already been to Thingvellir he took us to a different part from where we had already been so we could see and experience more. An excellent trip, which was made really special by a knowledgeable and flexible guide. Thank you very much Gutti This trip is not run by Grayline but by another company but we booked through Grayline (for the same price). An additional note about Grayline Iceland trips in general, is that they don't pick up from apartments only Guesthouses or hotels. There were usually 8 of us on these trips, and all but one of the trips went through the Gerdi district of Reykjavik. We had to start our trip by getting a bus into Reykjavik, despite requests to pick us up in Gerdi, which was on the major routes out. The drivers were nice enough to drop us off in Gerdi as it was on route and no inconvenience to them. --- Iceland Excursions: --- Thank you for your comments and review. Glad your trip was so successful on the glacier, will certainly forward your message to Gutti. Our complimentary pickup service only applies for hotels and guesthouses with more than 10 rooms. The reason for this is that strict rules apply for residential streets as far as motor vehicle traffic is concerned and our buses simply cannot pickup passengers for tours in those areas. We try our very best to return passengers as close as possible to where they are staying, after tours.
