Step into a magical world of rugged beauty and unearthly colours deep in the Icelandic highlands.
The route takes you initially through the richest farmlands in Iceland before it ventures in the picturesque Þjórsárdalur with its Glacier River and Hjálparfoss waterfall.
As we journey on we drive on mountain and gravel roads and cross various rivers in the desolated highland until the oasis of Landmannalaugar is reached.
Landmannalaugar is an awe inspiring place, characterised by Rhyolite Mountains, hot springs and diverse landscape.
The mountains are known for their multiple array of colours they display. One should expect to see a cacophony of yellow, pink, fluorescent green and purple, brown, black and white.
The guide will then offer to take you on a 1-2 hour hiking trip through various sites.
After the hiking trip you can relax and soak in the famous natural hot spring found in the area.
The trip back to Reykjavík is a scenic one and includes great views of the infamous volcano Hekla which has erupted every ten years over the last decades.
This trip offers something for everyone. Adventurous hike, bleak and beautiful highland as well as a relaxing and refreshing soak in hot water.
