AH30  South Coast & Þórsmörk 1 May 2016 -
30 Sep 2016

Highlights:
  • Seljalandsfoss waterfall
  • Þórsmörk
  • Stakkholtsgjá

Tour Description:

We begin this tour by driving over the mountain heath Hellisheiði towards Selfoss town and then along the south shore to Seljalandsfoss waterfall.

From there our journey continues towards the interior to our main attraction, Þórsmörk (i.e. Thor’s Woodland), a nature reserve shielded on three sides by glaciers and mountains. The glacial melt-off forms rivers that have to be crossed on the way, which can change in a matter of hours from an innocent stream into a thunderous torrent. Some days the crossing is quite challenging or even impossible but our skilled drivers are very experienced in these driving conditions and will take you safely across the rivers.

Panoramas IcelandOnce there we make a stop to enjoy the breathtaking scenery with its multitude of small gullies and valleys, clad with low birch-trees that create seemingly endless possibilities for the nature lover. Various hiking routes are available and everyone can find a suitable one. There is enough time to take about a one hour hike and enjoy your lunch (which you can either bring with you or buy at our stop in Hvolsvöllur).

On our way back we will stop at the rugged gorge of Stakkholtsgjá for a 1 hour hike to the end of the gorge. A small river needs to be crossed on the way by stepping from one stone to another. At the end of the gorge we are rewarded by a nice waterfall, which can be reached by stepping up some bigger rocks/stones This tour is truly unforgettable for the nature lover at heart and ideal as a hiking trip.

Wow what a great Company! I did the Thorsmork/South Coast tour and the Goldern Circle Classic tour and they were both great value for money. Thorsmork/South Coast tour was jam packed with action and adventure, lots of nature walks and hikes along with many photo stops in various places. Our tour guide was fantastic also (I'm sorry i cant remember his name) but he really knew his stuff, kept things interesting and engaging had a great sense of humor. I highly recommend this tour if you are looking for some active things to do in the iceland wildernessand not just your average tour! Our guide for the Goldern circle tour, Linda, was very knowledgable and shared lots of interesting facts about Iceland and it's people. Thank you for an an exciting couple of days in Iceland I'm glad I chose this company :)

We did 4 tours, all really good, bud this one was the outright best. Fantastic vistas, an impressive waterfall, and a spectacular hike up a canyon. Topping it all off was our driver: skilled, knowledgeable, personable, and entertaining -- he was the best guide we've ever had anywhere.

we made reservations for this tour and for a hotel pickup that morning. We waited outside for over 40 minutes -- from 7:55 until we finally called and asked if we should walk to the station. Needless to say, we did not make the tour. It meant a wasted day. The people at the station desk were pretty helpful under the circumstances. My son was very didappointed.

Thank you for your review.  Our shuttle bus doing the pickup did go to the hotel you listed in your booking but it seems you were actually staying at this hotel´s second location. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and not able to correct this misunderstanding in time but glad that you were able to accept a our Langjökull Glacier Adventure tour instead.

Easter in Iceland is both a religious holiday and a sign that winter is over.
