I am Aurora  - a multimedia experience at Fakasel

I Am Aurora is a 30 minute narrated show and multimedia experience where Aurora,

the goddess of the northern lights tells the audience why we sometimes see these magical lights in the arctic sky.

*The material shown is a mixture of time-lapse and real-time aurora videos shot in Iceland,

as well as CGI and time-lapse footage supplied by NASA and ESA.

*The film is shown on a huge, 5 x 40 meter long screen, the only one of it´s kind in Iceland.

*Along with further explanations about the auroras, guests will receive a booklet where they

can find tips and tricks from the cinematographers of I am Aurora on how to find and photograph the elusive lights.

*The show is produced by leading experts in Icelandic nature documentaries,

with the help of award winning cgi animators, VR designers, Script writers and astronomers.

*Narration is in English.

Subtitles are available in English, French, Spanish, German, Polish, Mandarin, Chinese and Japanese.

*All music is specifically composed for the show by Pétur Jónsson.

The scenery was amazing but we were very lucky that the day was sunny and not rainy or windy, because this was a very dangerous tour and had the weather been bad, someone could have died. We walked on a path about 18 inches wide with death on either side - sheer drops. Another path was either find your way on rocks with nowhere to place the walking stick provided for balance, or hug the rock and walk on an 8 inch ledge over a sheer drop. If that is what you are prepared for, fine. And even with good weather, our hike was 6 1/2 hours.

Did a lot of tours with Gray Line this summer and this was the best. A great hike with great views over mountains, glaciers and volcanoes. You better make sure to wear the right clothes and to be in good shape though, this is a challenge !

This was a great hiking tour, bit challenging but worth all the effort. Also, our guide, Svavar was simply great, he was telling us a lot of useful and also interesting info about Iceland, volcanos, history, etc , and also supporting us when needed on the track! This is a tour that should not miss when in Iceland! //Silvia
