AH17  Blue Lagoon and Krýsuvík 15 May 2015 -
15 Sep 2015

This tour is ideal for those who want to add a bit extra to their Blue Lagoon visit.

Highlights
  • Blue Lagoon
  • Lava fields
  • Mud pools and solfatares
  • Kleifarvatn lake
  • Krýsuvík lake

Tour Description

After bathing in the mineral rich waters at the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa you will head back to Reykjavík through the lunar landscape of Krýsuvík.  A stop will be made at the small fishing village of Grindavík before heading towards the geothermal area at Seltún where you will have time to explore the boiling mud pools.

On our way back to Reykjavík we will drive through the lunar landscape of Krýsuvík and make a stop at the largest lake in the Reykjanes Peninsula, Kleifarvatn.

Please note that tour AH16 leaves the Blue Lagoon parking lot at 14:00.

Note: Visitor pass or entrance fee to the Blue Lagoon is not included in the tour price but two types of entrance fee packages (standard or comfort) can be bought separately when you have pressed the “Book” button. We strongly recommend that passengers pre-book the entrance ticket as the Blue Lagoon can be fully booked.

The Blue Lagoon bathing fee standard package includes:
Visitor Pass and entrance to The Blue Lagoon.

The Blue Lagoon bathing fee comfort package includes:
Visitor Pass, entrance to the Blue Lagoon, use of bathrobe, use of towel, drink of your choice, skin care gift card, volcano scrub or algae mask.

Please Note:
Due to regulation, children under the age of 2 are not allowed to go into the Blue Lagoon but are welcome on the premises.
Children at the age of 2-8 must use inflatable armbands at all times when bathing in the Lagoon. The armbands are available at the bathing area.

The Blue Lagoon will be closed from January 5th until January 21st 2016. A larger and improved facility will be opened on January 22nd.

This tour was excellent for me as I didn't have much time in Iceland, so I could visit several places in one day. Don't worry, you have enough time at the Blue Lagoon, you stay there for about 4 hours and it's enough.

We enjoyed seeing the Blue Lagoon but did not actually go into the waters as we felt our time was limited and the entrance fees were too high for just a short visit. We would have appreciated a warning about the cost and the fact that if you didn't take a towel, the cost would be even higher. We should have gone to the Blue Lagoon earlier to get the most out of this trip. We would have enjoyed the Krysuvik trip more if it hadn't been raining so hard but nevertheless it was very interesting. The guide on this part of the trip was very good and informative. The driver that dropped us off was n't very forthcoming with information, he didn't tell us where we needed to go and we had to ask him what time our pick up was for the Krysuvik trip. --- Iceland Excursions: --- Thank you for your comments and review. The Blue Lagoon bathing fee is rather high compared to our public swimming pools, a must to experience for most visitors to Iceland. Sorry to hear that our driver was not informative of where the Krysuvik tour started from at The Blue Lagoon, the fact that the area where the buses are located is so small the bus driver may have thought it was obvious, our apologies for that and we will remind the drivers to be more helpful.

I and my wife really enjoyed this tour. The weather was fine and sunny in the afternoon, and the colours of the landscape at Krysuvik were beautiful. The lady guide/driver was well informed and interesting to travel with. She gave a lot of useful information, and took us to several well chosen places on the tour. I personally did not like the stop at the racks of drying fish, but others may have done. Otherwise it was a very good tour.

The tour was great. We didn't get in to the Blue Lagoon as the line up was so long we would have missed the afternoon part of the trip. In hindsight, I would have opted for the earlier hotel pick up. Other than that, the tour was enjoyable and the guide was great.
