Enjoy theatre, dance, literature, visual arts and music at Reykjavík Arts Festival (Listahátíð í Reykjavík) from 18 May - 3 June. The Festival takes pride in its emphasis on all art forms and promotes the vibrant Icelandic art scene as well as international culture with exceptional performances, exhibits and events. The Reykjavík Arts Festival is held every year in May. It was held biannually from 1970 and annually from 2004. The Festival is one of Northern Europe's oldest and most respected arts festivals. Have a look here for more information and photos of previous years.
While we still have to wait a few months for the actual festivities to start, a design competition is held rewarding the best festival poster with 500.000 ISK. All proposals should be sent in before 23 February to www.icelanddesign.is.
