With the coming of the winter every car owner in Iceland double checks his tires, since this is ICEland. Luckily roads are kept clean and in case of frost, trucks are sent out during the night to salt the roads. According to the city of Reykjavík,
only a third of the cars driving in the capital area this winter are driving on spikes. This number has decreased over the last ten years by more than half while the number of accidents also has decreased.
